How to Hire a Home Cleaning Company

There is no end to how many residential home cleaning companies out there that are willing to earn your business and clean your home. So how is a homeowner to choose which company is the best company? We will cover some of the topics on how to choose the right cleaning company that will meet your needs (and wants).

Do Your Research

Letting a stranger into your home is a big deal. Now you are asking them to come into your home on a weekly or bi-weekly basis? Well, make sure you do your research. The words, “better safe than sorry” should make you want to air on caution and really look at who you are hiring. Are they a legitimate business? Do they have insurance? Are they licensed? These are all questions that you should be asking before you hire a cleaning company. The last thing you want is to hire someone that could cause you a headache down the road.

Check Reviews

A great place to get the “dirty” on a cleaning company is through big review sites like Yelp and Facebook. Reviews will allow you to see what other people have to say from those who have gone before you and hired the company. There isn’t anything better than hearing the praises and concerns of current and past clients. Taking the time to go through the online reviews will give you some guidance on who is right for the job. Often, you can message the reviewer and ask them to expound on an issue in their review or to maybe give you more insight on something that stuck out to you. We often hear people say, “I should have checked their reviews first” when we have to come to clean up another companies’ mess. Save yourself time and money and look up reviews before you have to end up leaving one yourself.

Employees vs. Contract Workers

Find out if the residential home cleaning companies you are considering hiring have actual employees or contracted workers. While contracted workers aren’t necessarily the worst things (especially if they do a good job), they don’t have as good compensation as actual employees do and end up coming and going rather fast. If you are hiring a company, you want to make sure that it is the same group of people that come into your home week after week. It isn’t your job to have to tell each new person that shows up what your likes and dislikes are or how to deal with your pets. Make sure you hire a company that treats their employees right. Odds are, if they are treated right- they will treat your home right too.

A cleaning company is a great investment. They give you peace of mind and that ability to spend more time doing things that matter to you like spending time with your family or being more active. Make sure that you spend the time before the cleaning company starts working, so you don’t have to waste time finding a new company later on down the road.
